GoAL
Make converting users' Facebook pages into websites on uKit builder.
The second step is to do the conversion of VK pages.
MY ROLE
Here I was in the role of a sales manager and UX/UI designer.
In the process, I came up with a step-by-step wizard, onboarding and mini-constructor interface. Then I adapted the existing constructor templates to the data from social networks.
In twos with a fullstack programmer, we worked on an algorithm to retrieve and distribute pattern data.
Conducted usability testing, answered support questions, collected feedback and statistical reports.
As the main person in charge of the project, I organized the work of other participants inside and outside of the core development team.
Description
uKit Alt is an add-on to the uKit website builder that allows you to create websites using data from user's Facebook and VK pages, which are fetched via API.
The data can be used to create both personal and business websites. After selecting a page
After creating the website versions, the user is taken to the wizard. Here he is offered to choose a design variant and type of site
After the visard, the user is taken to a mini-constructor where they can view the site, change its type, design and content.
The transition into the mini-constructor is accompanied by onboarding with hints.
The uKit Alt is a great way to bring new audiences to uKit and get a better unit economy.

Wizard of website creation
GOAL
Make a wizard that helps the user figure out how to transfer data from the page
Solution
I designed a wizard that simply and clearly guides the user through the journey from page selection to the finished site.
In places where some time is spent building the site, I've made entertaining animations and descriptions of the work that's going on at a given second.
In a short time, the user is presented with six different variations of the site that they can scrutinize and scroll through.

Onboarding
ЗАДАЧА
Before the user goes into the mini-constructor, you should familiarize the user with it and explain how to work here.
Solution
I recorded a video explanation and designed a step-by-step user onboarding with descriptions of each section of the mini-constructor.
The user can hide onboarding cues at any time or show them again.

Mini-constructor
GOAL
The uKit interface provides a lot of customization options, but this comes with a price in the form of a non-straightforward interface.
Before going into the uKit builder and creating a website, the user needs an easy way to customize the design and content.
Solution
I designed a simple mini-constructor that shows the user the resulting site and lets them customize it interactively.
The entire setup is broken down into three sections:
  • type of site (single-page or multi-page)
  • design
  • content
Playing with the settings user selects for himself the optimal variation of the site.
To show how the site design adapts, I've added a device switcher.
There is a panel on the left and a site on the right. In this section the user selects the type of site

This section selects the design of the site and its color palette

The user can see how their site will look on a mobile device

In the “Content” section, the user selects which blocks will be on the site

Results
This way of creating websites in uKit still exists today and enjoys some popularity.
Importing data from social networks has been a good way to attract users from an area with low competition.
REVIEWS
“When people are interested in my T-shirts, they ask if I have a website where they can see all the work. I didn't have a website, only Facebook and Instagram - but not everyone is registered there. I decided that people should learn about my business without barriers, launched a converter, and for finalization I turned to a freelancer recommended by your service. And within a couple of days I had a ready website”.
Konstantin, designer of T-shirts and prints
“We need a website for our image and a full-fledged presence in internet search. At first we thought of turning to freelancers, to agencies that are popular now - but we realized that we couldn't afford it now. Then we looked through a lot of constructors, found uKit, and decided to quickly turn a Facebook page, which builds up likes and popularity, into a mini-site where people can sign up to see us”
Alexander, co-owner of a consulting business
“Our old website didn't have a mobile version for smartphones and tablets. Paying for it separately was expensive. Moving the whole site to a new platform is also expensive. We found out that we could transfer our Facebook page to an adaptive website. Basically, we liked everything. And now we have a free mobile version.

OPINIONS
“It's a good move – many entrepreneurs now start on social networks and then decide to make their own website. Integration with social networks is the future of website builders”
Anatoly Denisov, Editor-in-Chief of CMS Magazine
“I tried it – interesting: it comes out simple but cute; easy to edit. For those who have a FB page, but can't get to the site – a great find”
Anna Sokolova, editor-in-chief of the Business section of The Village, ex-Hopes&Fears
“I think for many small firms this is a good solution. You can see that uKit has tried to figure out what and where to distribute on the site”
